Audience members comment on the conversation

Dear Marva:  I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed last Tuesday evening’s program with Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil.  The dinner afterward was wonderful as I had the chance to sit directly across the way from the two and engaged in conversation with Claude-Michel about the magic of music creation and composition.  As a fan of both Les Miz and Miss Saigon, it was for me a singular delight.  We even discussed opera and Wagner’s Ring at some length.

Thank you so much for all you did to bring them here to UVA.  In my mind, you deserve a special medal from the University.

Hi Marva, You were awesome tonight, and the whole event was a feast of the heart, mind, and soul. Congratulations not only on getting these guys here, but on facilitating such a lively and interesting conversation that brought out their personalities and passions as well as yours. It was one of the most meaningful events I’ve attended at UVA. I’m glad I was able to make it.

Dear Mrs. Barnett,  Thank you so much for setting up the talk with Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, and for inviting me to lunch today! It was a truly incredible, once in a lifetime experience, and I am still processing everything I heard today and yesterday. I can’t tell you how much the experience means to me, and how honored I am to have listened to them talk and to have taken this class with you, even if I didn’t realize what I was experiencing at the time.

Thank you!

Dear Marva,  This note is to thank you so very much for last evening with Schönberg and Boublil and the University Singers. It was such a brilliant, soulful, and inspiring hour and a half. I felt truly grateful to be part of a university where such moments happen. Thank you for making UVa a better place!

Cheers,
